Rachael Poer

President/CEO Queen of the Valley Foundation

What’s your role in the Foundation?

As President/CEO of the Foundation I am responsible for leading the organization along with our Board of Trustees to elevate and advance strategic healthcare initiatives for the Queen of the Valley Medical Center (QVMC). As Chief Philanthropy Officer of QVMC, I am responsible for sitting on the Executive Leadership Team of the hospital to help steer and support hospital operations while representing all philanthropic projects, both past and present, to ensure that the integrity of each project is maintained as promised.

What’s your background?

I started my career in hospitality, which significantly shaped my views about how to care for and communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and clients. I made the shift into the philanthropy world in 2012 when I joined the St. Helena Hospital as the Assistant Director of Major Gifts. After several years at St. Helena Hospital, I started my own consulting firm supporting several clients with the development and execution of their fundraising strategies, campaigns and high-profile events.

Then in 2018, I joined Queen of the Valley Foundation as the Director of Philanthropy and transitioned into my current role as President/CEO of the Foundation and Chief Philanthropy Officer of the Medical Center in 2022. I focus a great deal of my energy on cultivating relationships and building community partnerships to solve healthcare challenges. I am a trusted advisor who oversees seven-figure revenue streams, donor cultivation and engagement, and prospect lead generation.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team of the hospital, I work closely with this team to identify the most significant areas of need and strategically deploy myself and my fundraising team to generate the resources needed to support the delivery of excellent medical care to the greater Napa Community. I am honored to have worked with so many generous donors in Napa Valley over the years who have advanced healthcare significantly for all that live, work and visit this area.

Why Providence?

Queen of the Valley is such an important asset for this community, and it’s a pleasure to be a part of something so meaningful that impacts our friends, family and neighbors.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I reside in Napa with my husband, University of Oregon-bound daughter, and two rescue dogs. In my spare time I can be found cooking, gardening, running alongside vineyards, and advocating for people and animals through my volunteer work.
