Information

Tribute Gifts
Donations to the Foundation can be made in honor or in memory of any person you specify. While tribute gifts are frequently mentioned as a preference in memorial notices, they are also often used to honor living designees.

Unrestricted Gifts
Most gifts to the Foundation fall in this category, with no conditions set on how they will be used. Unrestricted gifts will be used wherever the need is greatest.

Restricted Gifts
Some donors wish to contribute to a specific department, program or equipment purchase. For example, some gifts are designated for Cardiac Care, Cancer Wellness or Community Outreach, which provides care for the medically underserved. A restricted gift allows you to specify how your donation will be used.

The Endowment Fund
When gifts are made to the Endowment Fund, the gift principal is maintained in perpetuity and invested to create income for the hospital. Income from gifts to the Endowment Fund can be restricted to a specified purpose or added to the Foundation’s unrestricted funds.

Planned Giving Opportunities

You can obtain income enhancement opportunities during your lifetime by making a gift of stocks, property or other appreciated assets using a variety of estate planning tools, as well as substantial tax benefits. For example, charitable remainder annuity trusts and charitable remainder trusts can provide lifetime income for you or anyone you designate, and can help you avoid capital gains and inheritance taxes.

You may also choose to donate to Queen of the Valley by naming the Foundation in your will as a recipient of an outright gift of property or other assets. Or you may choose to create a trust in your will, naming the Foundation as a beneficiary. Such gifts may be restricted or unrestricted, and can be made either to the General Fund or the Endowment Fund.

The Foundation’s staff is here to provide confidential, no-obligation consultations about how these and other forms of philanthropy can benefit you and your loved ones as well as Queen of the Valley Medical Center.

Circle of Friends

The Circle of Friends is a group of loyal and generous donors who support the mission of Queen of the Valley Medical Center with regular annual gifts.  There are no dues or fees to join and membership is open to all who make cash gifts of $500 or more during the year. Friends are invited to select health education events, highlighted by an exclusive members-only reception held each year in a unique Napa Valley location.  Each Circle reception is highlighted by an informative healthcare discussion featuring physicians practicing at Queen of the Valley Medical Center. In addition to a reception, basic Circle of Friends’  benefits include invitations to other healthcare presentations, recognition in Foundation publications, a membership card, a lapel pin and flowers upon admission to the Medical Center.

The Hall of Honor
Located within the main lobby of the medical center, the Hall of Honor offers permanent recognition to those who have made a cumulative contribution of $2,000 or more. Individuals and business whose names appear on this permanent display are invited to attend an annual event to recognize and honor their commitment to Queen of the Valley Medical Center.

Queen’s Heritage Circle
We believe it is a special person who decides to give a portion of their estate to serve the healthcare needs of future generations. As a result, our Foundation honors individuals who let us know they have made a gift to us through their estate plan with a membership in the Queen’s Heritage Circle. These individuals are listed in our publications, and are invited to attend an annual luncheon.

Foundation Publications
Donations to the Queen of the Valley Medical Center Foundation are recognized in the Foundation’s publications and are mailed to all donors.
